The Raising of the Mary Rose

“The Truth, the Whole Truth and Nothing but the Truth”

A talk by Malcolm Cockell

Thursday 22nd November

7:30pm

Mileham Village Hall

After spending over 400 years under water, the Tudor flagship ‘Mary Rose’ was finally raised from the sea bed in 1982. Malcolm Cockell managed the Tipton Establishment, a division of Babcock Power, that developed the necessary equipment to bring the ship back to the surface. Malcolm was with the project from start to finish, so if you’d like to hear a ‘warts and all’ talk regarding the project, then please come along and join us. Malcolm will also be demonstrating a unique model of the rig used in the project.

Although organised by the Mileham Men’s Group, the talk is open to everyone, irrespective of gender.

Admission charge  £3 on the door

There will also be a raffle of a limited edition print (shown above) of a painting by the late Ben Maile - the officially accredited artist to the project, which Malcolm has kindly donated. These prints originally sold for just under £200.

All proceeds will go towards the upkeep of the village hall.

In the event of any query regarding this event, please contact Ian on 01328 702316.
